This is the official name of the almost 15 m high landmark on the Schurenbachhalde. The sculpture by American artist Richard Serra was installed on November 10, 1998. The slab can be seen from afar as a landmark. It is made of steel and weighs 67 tons. It was manufactured in France by the company Creusot-Loire-Industries, since there were no longer any production facilities for this size in the Ruhr area at the time of manufacture. The cost of the landmark was 1 million DM; they were financed to 90% from state funds.

Almost like on Mars, only the rocks are missing. Beware, there are a lot of broken pieces of glass bottles here.
On the eastern side is a staircase. Who prefers to carry his bike up ... has the advantage that you only have to let it roll afterwards (then drive down at the western end and always follow the main road to the right-hand bend)

My favorite dump! Great view north on colliery and coking plant Prosper - on the other side Zollverein. Also Nordsternpark and Schalke Stadion. Great view!
