Under August the Strong, the Königkrone colliery mined topazes for jewelry purposes from 1734 to 1800. Around 2/3 of the rock was mined during this time. Polished specimens can still be admired in the Green Vault in Dresden. Some specimens also adorn the English royal crown (Wikipidia)
