Disnokö is a Hungarian winery that sells its excellent sweet wines under the Tokaj brand, which have become Tokaj's cult wines over the years.
The Disnókö winery is located in the Tokaj-Hegyalja region of Hungary. It was already founded in the 18th century. As early as 1772, Disnokö was recognized as a first-class winery. Tokaj sweet wines of outstanding quality are produced on 150 hectares of cultivated land, of which only 100 hectares are planted with vines. The clay soils of the winery lying on volcanic rock have a high level of minerality, which in turn is passed on to the wines. Added to this are the ideal properties in terms of water and heat storage. All these factors favor the production of excellent sweet wines of international renown.
In 1991 the winery was taken over by the French group AXA. The new owners did not shy away from investments and put on new cellar vaults and new installations for wine processing. Through these efforts, the traditional Disnokö was able to recapture its traditional place in the field of Hungarian cult wines.
The wine-growing region of the Disnokö estate has been a World Heritage Site since 2002 (source: banneke.com/disznoko).
