Tokaj is an ancient town on the Tisza River in northeastern Hungary in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, 53 kilometers from the county seat of Miskolc. The city is the center of the Hungarian part of the Tokaj wine region, where the famous Tokaj is grown.

The city is considered the center of the Hungarian Tokaj wine region and is a tourist attraction. Despite the small number of inhabitants, it is an important traffic junction, two large bridges lead over the Tisza, the railway bridge and the traffic bridge (Queen Elizabeth Bridge).
