Rising above the Drumochter Pass to the east are two rounded Munros and coire after coire, great grooves in their extensive flanks. Hikes up Carn na Caim, the higher of the two, are straightforward over grassy terrain and provide relatively easy Munro days. Often twinned with A'Bhuidheanach Bheag to the south, clear days on this rambling upland provide outstanding views.
The easiest start point is from the A9 to the west, just south of Dalwhinnie. Hiking from here allows a direct ascent of Carn na Caim and you can choose to continue exploring the undulating mountains or keep the hike short and sweet. At 3,087 feet (941 m), this Munro has outstanding views into the Cairngorms and to the giant of Ben Alder and its companions.
Hiking up Carn na Caim will scarcely bring even a stone across your path but its simplicity allows for beautiful winter walks with crampons. The rocks you will see are quartzite outcrops, white against the otherwise green bulk. Keep an eye out for the local wildlife. With sparse places for them to hide, you can often spot ptarmigan, golden plover, dotterel and hares.
Often climbed alongside A' Bhuidheanach Bheag, this Munro mountain is considered one of the easier Munro bagging outings. Rolling hills make for a pleasant ascent from the Drumochter Pass.

A fairly featureless summit. Easily tacked from the A9 to the west, the summit is marked by a cairn at NN 67702 82144.
