The village of Dahmker was first mentioned in a document in 1377 and since 1962 the municipality has belonged to the Schwarzenbek-Land district.
The place is about twelve kilometers northwest of Schwarzenbek. From 1887 to 1976, Dahmker was a railway station on the Schwarzenbek–Bad Oldesloe railway.
