On the Dorstener Planet Shore, models of the sun and its eight planets (including the earth) illustrate the actually unimaginable dimensions of our solar system through true-to-scale sizes and distances. The section highlight marked here begins in the east at the Sun and extends with its western end beyond the last stele (Neptune) to about the point where a Pluto stele would have to be placed if Pluto were not from the planet in 2006 would have been demoted to a dwarf planet.Additional Information:"The Planet Shore Dorsten is a 3.2 km long planetary path in Dorsten, which was opened on June 10, 2017. On a scale of 1:1.4 billion, a 1 m large model of the sun and 8 planetary steles are lined up at a corresponding distance. On them are 3 mm (Mercury) to 102 mm (Jupiter) large stainless steel hemispheres mounted. The earth consists of blue lapis lazuli. [...]The sole purpose of the idea generator was to make it possible to experience the actual size and distance conditions in the solar system. There is no further information about the individual planets on the steles. The table on the sun also contains only a projection of the planetary orbits of the model on a city map.As a special feature, the steles are each provided with the words from the motto "My father explains our nature to me every Sunday". This 3.2 km long "sentence in the landscape" is not explained and is intended to be unraveled by the hiker or cyclist."Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planetenufer_Dorsten
