The aquatic center with the abbey is part of the old town of Wunstorf, between the market square at the city church, the moat, the large northwall car park and the pedestrian area of the city center. It was once the poor lane of the city, today there are beautifully restored half-timbered houses.
The narrow, cozy cobblestone lane, where the floodplain used to flow, is accessible from many sides. Here you can browse the local shops and go shopping or be spoiled by the gastronomy culinary. The floodplain past the houses was used for brewing beer and as the water was drawn from the river, the name aquaculture comes from it.

The water breeding is an old alley on the northern outskirts of the old town of Wunstorf. The name is explained by the Mühlenaue flowing north of the property. As part of flood protection measures, the Mühlenaue was filled in around 1970.
Workers and craftsmen lived in the small half-timbered houses on the north side of the water farm, the southern edge of the street was the border to the gardens of the houses on Long Street. In 1809, several houses and barns in the water farm and in Nordstraße burned down. They were then rebuilt, and some of the years can still be read on the door beams.
Around 1970, the old half-timbered houses were to be demolished to make way for new buildings. However, it was possible to include this alley in the Stadtkirche redevelopment area, so that the houses could be renovated and preserved.
The development of the southern side of the water breeding took place between 1980 and 1990.
