At the beginning of 2024, work began on the renovation of the only remaining shaft trestle on the mine site in Heusden-Zolder. The shaft trestle is the last protected monument that can still be seen on the mine site. 32 years after the closure of the mine, the construction is given a new future. There will be a skybox at the top of the shaft trestle. At the bottom of the shaft trestle there will be a new building where virtual reality courses will take place. The works will last 2 years and the project will cost 16 million euros.

A nice old mine shaft. you can't get to it and actually it's just completely dilapidated. There is an event area with catering facilities at the back. If the treasure were no longer here, you would cycle right past it.
