The Vepriai mound stands in the Vepriai borough, in the village of Slabada, on the right bank of the Geležės, on a high promontory in the Šventoji valley. Its slopes are steep, 11 m high. The plot has an irregular quadrangular shape, oriented in the northwest-southeast direction, 29×29 m in size, somewhat uneven. On the northwest side of the high ground, the site is fortified by the lines of three ramparts and ditches, now overgrown with mixed forest and undergrowth. A semicircular embankment 1.5 m high was poured on the northwestern edge of the site, the outer slope of which descends into a 0.5 m deep ditch. A second 0.3 m high embankment was poured behind it, a second 0.2 m deep ditch was dug, and a third 1 m high embankment was poured - all of them have survived only on the central and western sides. The mound was destroyed. The site is also riddled with ditches and pits. It is believed that Vepriau Castle stood on the hill, in 1384. mentioned in the chronicle of Vygandos Marburgietis. Vepriai mound dates back to the 1st millennium. - XIV century AD It is an immovable object of cultural heritage protected by the state.
