There is a memorial stone on the grave of the Jewish doctor Abraham Karlinskis in the forest near the town of Vepriai in Ukmergė district, which has not been marked in any way until now. The author of the monument is Viktoras Zhentelis, a sculptor living in Vepriai, who erected the memorial stone at the place of the doctor's death on his own initiative and with his own funds. In September 1941, a famous Jewish doctor in Ukmerge, A. Karlinskis, was shot in cold blood in the forest, near the Vepriai Calvarii trail. It is said that thanks to people who respected the doctor, he managed to escape from the Ukmergė ghetto and move towards Jonava. Unfortunately, local people caught him near Pageleži and put him in a cart and brought him closer to Veprii. Ona Žentelytė said that her mother repeatedly shared her memories that when she saw the doctor sitting in the carriage, she understood that he was going to be dealt with and tried to stop the executioners. After threatening to shoot the woman and her one-year-old daughter Ona, the criminals retreated to the nearby forest, where they killed and buried the doctor.
Google translator is good for nothing. In previous comment lithuanian word "vepriškiai" means local residents of vilage Vepriai, but Google translates this word like "pigs". For your interest, ethymology of the word "Vepriai" derives from old lithuanian word "Veprius" meaning wild boar, but now it is not in use.
