The Wijnants-Lowette steam syrup factory is located on Stationsstraat.

The factory was founded by Guillaume Wijnants, who bought land for that purpose in 1878. In 1898 there was a steam engine and in 1899 a steam generator. In 1901 the old warehouse was demolished and brick silos were built. A warehouse was built in 1907, and a steam boiler was added in 1910-1911. The office dates from 1912. In 1927 there was talk of a factory chimney. In 1939 the factory was enlarged again to merge in 1952 with the Lowette syrup factory in Bommershoven. This is how the company Wijnants-Lowette was born. It employed 18 workers in 1950.

In the early 1960s, syrup production was discontinued. The municipality of Borgloon bought the buildings and established its technical department in them. The chimney was demolished in 1982.
