The first settlement in Cavaion is made up of huts and a few stilt houses, near the pond of Ca' Nova, at the foot of the current town, dating back to the Bronze Age. There are many traces and notable archaeological finds preserved today in the Archaeological Museum in the Town Hall.

The lake is of morainic origin, left by the melting of the Würmian glacier, together with other intermorainal ponds and lakes that must have existed in the area of Naiano and Pozzoi/Bossema. On the edge of this lake, in the Bronze Age (between 2000 and 1500 BC) there was the village that has provided various findings.
