For decades, there was a huge airport for the English occupying army here, which operated under the name RAF Brüggen. British bombers took off from here during the Gulf Wars. The airport has since been abandoned and the municipality of Niederkrüchten is trying to market the large site together with an investor. The site is not freely accessible today. There is also a golf course on the site
