The Meinweg in the same national park has been car-free for some time and since 2015 with a new cover. For all cyclists a "journey worth".

The Meinweg itself is a beautiful about 7.7 km long "race track". Almost no car traffic. maybe some walkers. The route runs from Herkenbosch (NL) through the nature reserve Meinweg up to the German border (near Oberkrüchten). Approximately 5 km lead through forest area partly with heathland. The rest is between meadows. At first there is still a rough tar cover but from the crossing of a disused railway line is an excellent new tar cover. There are 3 longer slopes with up to about 4 - 6% slope to overcome the 130 Hm. Whoever drives faster than 44 km / h on average is the new King of the Mountain!
Of course you can also drive slowly and then comfortably visit the beautiful surroundings. Nice goals are z. B. Brüggen, Lüttelforst or the Meuse. All within a few miles of good bike paths to reach.

Great way, as we drove through on a very warm day, the forest also gives nice cooling.

Good surface. Beautiful landscape. Very little car traffic, because "cars are guests". You have to be here once.

Super nice surroundings in which you can go full throttle - except when 2 slowly, side by side people cycling no longer have enough hearing power and cannot hear the bells. 😉 But only towards the German border does the path become as narrow as a cycle path in both directions. Before that, it's a street, just without cars.
