Although Defynnog lost local prominence as the nearby Sennybridge became more developed, the church boasts some extraordinary features. It contains a stone with ancient Ogham inscriptions (an ancient British Alphabet) and the churchyard houses a yew tree which is over five thousand years old.

In the church vestibule, there are laminated information sheets about the church building and the old yew tree, which you can borrow for a tour. Very informative and interesting, as not everything is immediately apparent from a purely amateurish observation.
