Originally, Bulldog was the name for the stationary single-cylinder two-stroke glow-head engine manufactured by Lanz, initially with water evaporative cooling and only later with thermosiphon cooling, the appearance of which bore a resemblance to the face of a bulldog. It was the basis of the first agricultural tractor, the Lanz Bulldog HL12, which Heinrich Lanz AG presented at the DLG in Leipzig in 1921 and which is considered the “original” Bulldog. The Bulldog's success was due to its simplicity and robustness. In addition, as a multi-fuel engine, it could be operated with inexpensive crude oil, etc., and was considered more reliable than the first diesel tractors. However, in other disciplines such as pulling power, technology or consumption, the Bulldogs were rather inferior to the diesel tractors. Nevertheless, Lanz-Bulldog agricultural tractors were able to hold their own, at least in Germany, for many decades because their simple hot-bulb engine principle was cheap to produce

It's a shame that such a beautiful tractor is rusting away as a decoration. It probably doesn't have enough substance to be restored. It breaks my heart.
