All ponds in the Nieplitztal go back to human activity. The Reichhelms-Teich was created around 1900. Karl Reichhelm, forest owner, dentist, local historian and photographer from Treuenbrietzen, laid it out. The inflowing water for the Reichhelms-Teich comes from a nearby spring area.
