The Warandepark used to be called ‘Royal Park’. It is the oldest park in the city and the first to be made public. Long ago, the Warandepark was built on the ruins of the park of the Dukes of Burgundy and the Governors of the Netherlands. Now you can find it between the Federal Parliament (Palace of the Nation) and the Royal Palace, symbols of power and royalty. This park was the scene of fierce fighting during the revolution of 1830.Architect Guimard and the gardener Zimmer designed the park in neoclassical style. The large dock is centrally located. From there, wide paths, symmetrical alignments and perspectives start. You will find many statues from Greco-Roman mythology here. Also take a look at the Vauxhall, the Théâtre Royal du Parc, the Guinguette Royale and Kiosk Radio, a radio station with a bar where you can dance under the trees!Source: visit.brussels/nl/bezoekers/venue-details.Warandepark-Koninklijk-Park.237417
