Until 1806, Dürrenried was an Imperial Knights' village in the Canton of Baunach. Its last owner was Baron von Albini, Chancellor of the Electorate of Mainz. Until 1802, the Würzburg district of Seßlach was responsible for its administration; after that, it became part of Bavaria. The church is dedicated to St. Oswald. The tower retains medieval structural elements but has a new upper story. The Holy Trinity is depicted on the high altar. Figures of St. Wenceslaus, St. Barbara, St. Lawrence, and St. Anthony are also depicted. Furthermore, there is a Gothic statue of the Virgin Mary.
