The Evangelical Lutheran St. Christopher's Church was built in 1559 as a parish church. For around 150 years it was also the home of the Rittersgrün community, which explains its location at the top of the town.

The altarpiece shows the resurrection of Christ in a baroque design. The date of origin of this painting as well as the age of the lectern and baptismal font are dated to the early 18th century.

Our church gets its special charisma from its ceiling painting, which was created between 1720 and 1741. The main image shows the transfiguration of Jesus, and the four corner panels show the evangelists with their symbols.

The organ dates from 1852 and was built by the Werdau master organ builder Johann Gotthilf Bärmig.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Christopher is a small hall church dating from the 16th century, which was transformed into a gallery hall through additions in the 19th century.

In the mid-16th century, Breitenbrunn separated from the parish of Grünstädtel and formed its own parish, which initially also included the neighboring village of Rittersgrün. A chapel had previously stood on the same site. The church was consecrated in 1559, extensively renovated and enlarged between 1719 and 1725, a vestibule was added in 1837, and it has undergone several restorations in the 20th and 21st centuries.
