Tonder Town Hall consists of an older part, built in 1980-81 after a competition won by Gunnløgsson and Nielsen in 1976, and a 3,000 m new building, which became necessary after municipal merger and almost doubles the volume of the house.

Sleth built the new section after winning a competition in 2013. The old part of the house is influenced by its postmodern contemporaries. Nevertheless, it appears to be in acceptable interaction with the city of Tønder through its simple and artistic volume made of bricks with concrete supporting structures.

The new extension is built as a bright, light pavilion that reflects the surroundings between the light gray aluminum elements. The extension stands on a tiled floor that also spans the new courtyard and connects the youngest and the old parts into a whole.
