Fanø Church in Nordby was built in 1786 by master builder Peter Friisvad as a successor to the dilapidated church in Rindby and was simply called "Fanø Kirke".
The altar and pulpit from 1620 are centrally located on the south wall. The baptismal font dates from the 15th century, and the twelve-voice organ from Marcussen and Reiter was donated by Christian VIII in 1844.
The building is made of bricks measuring 23.5 x 11.5 x 5.5 cm and has a wall thickness of 2 1/2 bricks = 60 cm. The foundation is set off in black and the cornice ends in a profiled white color. The roof is covered with blue-glazed tiles, which were called "Dutch roof tiles" in 1862. Light is let in through 18 windows, 6 on each long side and 3 at each end. On the east side, a window fell victim to an extension in 1906. Access to the church is through 2 arched doors.
The building is constructed symmetrically around the main axis of the church both inside and out. The wooden ceiling, which is about 5 m high, is supported by 21 beams on a powerful longitudinal beam resting on 6 posts.
The building reflects the transition from Rococo to Classicism. (Source: fanoe-ferienhaus.com/sehenswuerdigkeiten/kirche-nordby)
