The MĂŒhlengraben accidentally became the absolute highlight of our short hike.

The original route did not lead us along the ditch. However, since our dog wanted to go in a certain direction and we hadn't paid attention to the fact that we had to turn, we hiked this really unbelievable beautiful path along the MĂŒhlengraben. "Thanks Hilmar"

So if you want to see the Regenstein Mill, the sand caves in the Heers and / or the Regenstein castle ruins, remember to include the path at the MĂŒhlengraben in your hike. It's definitely worth it.

For stamp hunters of the Harz hiking nobility: RegensteinmĂŒhle HWN 82, Regenstein castle ruins HWN 80 and sand caves in the Heers HWN 81, can be found wonderfully in a hike and are all absolutely worth seeing.

    best regards

Beautiful hiking trail on which has also left old traces of transport in the sandstone. Unfortunately everything was full of leaves so that it could not be seen.

Material and goods were transported in this way. The wheels of the wagons formed this ravine together with the draft animals.

Here you can find out how the transport took place in this small mountain forest. Everything is very well described and shown.

MĂŒhlengraben and Hohlweg are two different routes. This one is the medieval ravine.
The carts used to transport goods have left visible traces in the ground. In steep places there are even steps for the draft animals. It is a very exciting way to the RegensteinmĂŒhle!

Here the animals and teams had to go to the mill. Due to the long use, the ravine was gradually broken in!

Over the centuries, the carts have left a real ditch here due to the abrasion of the wheels. Today there is a tranquil hiking trail here.

You are always surprised what comes to light here in the Harz Mountains. With the ravine you like to walk a few meters more so that you have the experience of going through a ravine.

The medieval ravine is 156 m long.
It was part of the economic route from Vorwerk Nienrode to the Regenstein mill.
