It's finally here, the wide cycle and pedestrian bridge over the Danube between Regensburg and Sinzing. Free oncoming traffic. Beautiful building. Great view of the Danube

One of the most important Danube crossings for cyclists and pedestrians between the city of Regensburg and the municipality of Sinzing. The new steel truss bridge has a usable width of 4 meters and a total length of 244 meters.

A joint project of the City of Regensburg, the municipality of Sinzing, and the Free State of Bavaria, it significantly improves the infrastructure and closes an important gap in the regional cycle path network. The bridge now provides a direct and convenient connection to the Danube Cycle Path, the Schwarze Laber Route, and the Ratisbona Panorama Tour – a benefit for both commuters and recreational cyclists.

I crossed this new bridge for the first time today and was amazed at the new dimensions; I felt like I was on a bicycle "highway". Unfortunately, I didn't find it straight away! My mistake was that I was looking on the old side; but there was only the closure! The new bridge is on the opposite side of the railway. On the downstream side, just head towards Regensburg and then the first underpass on the right and then right again and you're back on the railway embankment and it's fine. On the upstream side, the path goes up clearly and is visible.
