Beautiful view over the vastness of the country and educational panels about the fauna.

Wooden observation tower at the southern end of the Great Sea with a view of Forlitz-Blaukirchen, a new dam and of course the Great Sea. Built with nature conservation funds. This larger viewing platform was completed in 2010 southeast of the Great Sea. It stands just outside of Forlitz-Blaukirchen on the Woldenweg and offers views of the southern part of the Great Sea, the silted up Herrenmeeder Meer and the grassland at Hiwkeschloot, which is also an important bird habitat.

Here on the viewing platform at the Great Sea, you have a view over the huge polished surfaces of the Great Sea and can see as far as Emden. The bird world is at your feet here.

A lookout tower from where you can overlook the southern part of the Great Sea.
On the tower there is information about the local birdlife.
At the bottom of the tower there is a shelter, for breaks or as a shelter in moody weather. Not far from here is the small church of Forlitz Blaukirchen. (Eastern direction) in a westerly direction you come on well-developed cycle paths towards Riepe, next intersection on the left. If you continue straight on, you go to the Kurbelpünte am Kleinen Meer (turn right) or to Uphusen (continue straight). There you will pass a Melkhuske on the Ems Jade Canal and a breakdown station on the bridge in case of an emergency if you run out of air.
