    Hiking

Fabulous views from here over Scugdale and over to Yorkshire Dales.

    Hiking

Very picturesque, Scugdale begins at Scugdale Head on Noon Hill. This is a watershed that separates the valleys of Scugdale to the west, Raisdale to the East and Arnsgill to the south. Scugdale Beck begins at the dale's head and flows 3 miles to Swainby. Along the watershed's ridge, known as Barker's Ridge, there are a series of boundary stones. Following Rank Crag around the north side of Scugdale it reaches Barker's Crag, a popular bouldering location.

    Hiking

The path running east-west along the ridge line is not well-trodden, it tends to disappear and reappear so you may end up having to walk through some knee-deep heather, but the views to the south over Scugdale are well worth it.
