The St. Leopold Bridge in Melk is a listed steel truss lift bridge spanning the Melk River. Originally built in 1936/37, it replaced an earlier pontoon bridge and can be raised up to three meters above the surrounding terrain. Today, it is closed to motorized traffic and serves exclusively pedestrians and cyclists. The bridge connects key areas of Melk, including the old town and the Benedictine Abbey, while also offering attractive views of the abbey and the surrounding river landscape.
