Friedrichshöhe is located on a high plateau in the Thuringian Slate Mountains, north of Eisfeld and southeast of Masserberg am Rennsteig.
The village is nestled amidst mountain meadows, surrounded by forests at 800 meters above sea level. It is connected to the federal highway B281 via an access road.
