The Saint-Aignan church owes its name to the bishop of Orleans around 400, when a pre-Romanesque church was in the same place. Over the centuries, it was replaced by various other constructions, in particular because they were victims of fires. Saint-Aignan was the parish of the counts of Blois and Chartres.

Unfortunately we couldn't visit the church because there was a local event taking place. Too bad 😏

From the outside the church looks very inconspicuous, but from the inside it reveals all its splendor. The greenish paintings come from Émile Boeswillwald, Inspector General of the Commission of Monuments Historiques from 1860 to 1895.
The church's stained glass windows from the early 16th century are particularly noteworthy.
