You are located in Oviši Salmon Place near the "Happiness Mailbox" (2021). It is placed in a milk can. Everyone is invited to remember a moment of their happiness and capture it in a letter. Write yours and throw it into the happiness mailbox.
Happy letters/small memory will be published on the website of Ovi Friends Group FB.
As the activists of Oviši say: "We make everyone think: what are the happiest moments of my life? And stopping and thinking about it is already causing something happy to happen! And, then in a while, maybe in 100 years, the ovišnieki who will live here will wonder: what happiness they had! How happy they lived!"
Ovishi (Paţikmō-Livs, Lyseort-Swedish (1590)  is area in Ventspils regional municipality, Tārgale parish, which was first mentioned in the 11th century. It is the first Liv village in direction from Ventspils to Kolka. It is the historical boundary between Latvian and Livs living space. Thanks to the nature reserve, beach, pine forest, unique lighthouse (1814) with the exposition "History of Lighthouses and Navigation of Latvia" and narrow gauge railway station (1916-1963), Ovišis is increasingly visited by guests
Among the most well-known inhabitantsd of the villige is Alfreds Audze (1897-1930), who was a colonel of the Latvian army, a participant in freedom fights, a chevalier of the Lāčplēsis War Order and the Order of the Three Stars.
Karlis Aleksandrs Princis (1893-1978), was a biologist and director of the Riga Museum of Natural History. He was one of the signatories of the Memorandum of the Central Council of Latvia on the Restoration of Independence of Latvia on 17 March 1944.
    K. Princis was the world's leading explorer of cockroaches and straight-winged, which discovered and described more than a hundred new species and even two new families. The scientist created the catalog of world cockroaches on 1224 pages.
After inserting the letter of happiness in the mailbox, the Group of Oviši Friends invites you to visit the recently created contemporary testimonies, such as the sacred site Austras Tree (2017) and oak with a bird drinker planted by The Ex-President of Latvia Vaira Vīķe Freiberga dedicated to the 100-year-anniversary of independence of  Latvia.
Have a nice time in Oviši, protect nature and do not forget to swim!
