According to a small notice in the Kremser Zeitung (January 27, 1949), the business owner Franz Müllner from Kammern had the old wayside cross renewed. The former principal of the Hauptschule Franz Koller from Langenlois created an image of the Crucified. This was certainly later replaced by a body made of cast iron. Another article in the Kremser Zeitung (June 9, 1949) reports that several boys from Kammern followed this example and renovated all the shrines in the Kammerner Freiheit at their own expense

Hiking
The name comes from the large red cross painted on the back. Whitened broad pillar with a deep niche closed by a wooden lattice at the front. The flat-arched roof used to be crowned by a monstrance-shaped tin carving; unfortunately this has been lost. In the niche are various figures, including a St. Antonius with Jesus child, above a framed picture Herz Mariae; the Madonna holds lilies in her left hand.
