The former children's lung clinic in the New Building style, built between 1929 and 1931, designed by the young architect Godehard Schwethelm, who became known for his hospital buildings. The listed ensemble covers 21 hectares of land (forest and meadow) and several buildings with 5,000 m² of building space and a sun-reflecting water basin.

The sanatorium, which initially specialized in tuberculosis and later in lung diseases in general, was finally closed in 1998 and stood empty for almost 20 years. In 2017/18, the first people from the current cooperative came together and moved in to awaken the former children's lung sanatorium from its slumber.

We were able to enjoy a guided tour of the children's lung clinic, which was built almost 100 years ago. This was carried out by a resident of the facility, who guided us through the essential parts of the clinic.
It was impressive to be able to experience the complex and its history "from the inside" and to be able to get these insights into this very well-preserved building.
Further details and information on regular guided tours can be found on the website of the "Freie Feldlage" residential community: freiefeldlage.de
(I'm also happy to look there for information about the monument and its history, since you can't describe everything so well anyway after so many impressions ...)
