At 4,546 meters, the Dom is the highest mountain entirely on Swiss soil and, as the highest peak in the Mischabel Group, the most prominent point in the third-highest Alpine massif after Mont Blanc and Monte Rosa (Dufourspitze). Both the normal route and the Festigrat are demanding (the former requires physical fitness, the latter requires technical skill).
