The church was probably built in Denmark's great church building period, namely in the 13th century. It has been speculated that there must have been a monastery associated with the church, but we cannot find any definite evidence of this. The church, like most other medieval churches, was probably paid for by the local lord, the owner of Beldringe Manor. Around the Beldringe church and main courtyard was also a small Beldringe village in the Middle Ages, which also housed a vicarage. At some point in the Middle Ages the church passed to the king and in 1504 the king donated the Hanskirchen to the so-called Antoniterkloster in Præstø. In 1621 both the Beldringe estate and the village passed to the king, who demolished the village and vicarage and had Beldringe made a subsidiary church to Bårse Church. In the middle of the 17th century the church was again attached to Præstø Church for a short time. but then became a permanent annex of Bårse. In contrast, Beldringe Hovedgård belonged to the castle and equestrian district of Vordingborg. Beldringe Hovedgård was sold by the king to Frederik Raben in 1774. The Beldringe church followed and followed the owner of the Beldringe estate - the well-known (in Lolland at least) family Raben-Levetzau, who were native to Lolland.
