The old distillery dates back to the 15th century Zuytveld castle site. Het Zuytvelt was originally a castle with an upper and lower court on a walled yard.
After two centuries of decline, the farm was put into use around 1760 under the name Scheyvelde. It evolved into an agricultural business.
The current name Old Distillery is derived from the grain brandy distillery that has been in use here since 1775.
