The nuclear reprocessing plant for spent nuclear fuel rods from German nuclear power plants was actually supposed to be built here at the end of the 1980s. The highly controversial project ultimately had to be stopped at the end of the 1980s due to resistance from the population, but also for economic reasons. An industrial area was created on the cleared area in the Taxölderner Forest, where the go-kart track also opened.
