The oldest stone church in Asperup dates from around 1180. Rarely can a village church be dated so precisely. But when the church was restored in the 1980s, a wooden window frame was found. A scholarly investigation concluded that the tree was felled in 1170, and as wood must sit for some time before it is used, the church probably dates from around 1180.
