In the background you can see the lighthouse Kalkgrund. Here is the area where sea burials are carried out (outside the three-mile zone). From Langballigau the last ride on the Feodora 2 takes about one hour to the Kalkgrund. If one day we do not walk with kommot, we are there.

The little trees are a bit lost on the beach meadow. This sounds a bit like savanna. From the constant, one-sided wind, the trees were blown into shape. This fleeing growth is called wind escape and it is common on the coast. In the background the lighthouse Kalkgrund, which marks the shallow water area in the Geltinger bay, just the Kalkgrund.

Construction of the Baltic Sea's first waterborne lighthouse began in the spring of 1962 to replace the Kalk Grund (1876–1910) and Flensburg (1910–1963) lightships.Savings in personnel costs, the greater height of the light with fixed sectors, and unrestricted operation during ice conditions were the main reasons for replacing the lightship with an unmanned tower. The lighthouse was commissioned on June 11, 1963, as the first fully automated lighthouse on the German coast. It is maintained by the Baltic Sea Waterways and Shipping Authority and monitored by the traffic control center in Travemünde.
