Ramsey is a protected RSPB reserve between April and July, the island being full of Kittiwakes, Razorbills, Guillemots and Fulmars. Less plentiful, but also breeding on Ramsey are Choughs and Wheaters.

A large colony of grey seals bring up their snowy white pups towards the end of Summer. There is a well-known tidal race here, giving rise to some fearsome currents and standing waves in the right conditions. Stay out of the water if you visit!
