    Hiking

Caerfai Bay has a lovely sandy beach that's perfect for swimming. You can walk down to it from the car park at the top of the cliff. You can also park at the visitor centre in St David’s and walk down the lane. It's a great place to start the coastal path from.

Embark on a moderate hike along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, a 10.6 miles (17.0 km) loop that takes you from St Davids to Solva. You'll experience dramatic cliffs and sheltered coves, gaining about 680 feet (207 metres) in elevation over approximately 4 hours and 33 minutes. As you walk, you'll be treated to expansive views across St Brides Bay, with Ramsey Island visible in the distance. The route also passes the distinctive purple sandstone cliffs at Caer Bwdy Bay, offering a unique visual landmark. This circular journey provides a true taste of the Welsh coastline.

Before you set out, remember that sections of the path can get muddy, especially after rain, so wear sturdy, waterproof footwear. Parking is available in both St Davids and Solva, giving you flexibility on where to begin your adventure. If you prefer a one-way experience, consider using the seasonal 'Puffin Shuttle' bus service, which connects various points along the coast. This allows you to tailor your hike to your preference, making it easier to explore without retracing your steps.

This trail is a highlight within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, connecting the historic city of St Davids with the charming harbour village of Solva. You'll pass through Solva, known for its colourful cottages and picturesque setting, before continuing along the rugged coastline. The route also offers serene moments at St Non's Bay, a place steeped in local history and natural beauty. It's an excellent way to immerse yourself in the unique coastal environment of West Wales.
