The Route de Cretes is definitely recommended! The route leads along the Vogesenkamm without any major inclines and offers up to shorter sections in the forest constantly great views west into the Vosges. Since it was originally created for military reasons, there are rarely views to the east towards the Rhine valley, but it is compensated by blooming mountain meadows. Since the route does not have traffic significance, you will be spared from load traffic, but the excursion traffic on nice weekends is sometimes quite lively.
The road quality is generally good.
