The Leybeek ponds are former fish ponds installed in the park of the same name on the occasion of the Universal Exhibition of 1958. The project was entrusted to René Péchère, a great Belgian landscape architect known, in addition to the exterior layout of the Expo 58, for the Mont des Arts gardens, the garden of the Woluwe-Saint-Lambert town hall and the Botanique park.
The Leybeek park has recently been redeveloped, in particular to promote vegetation around the ponds as well as to improve the quality of the water.
