The Chapel of San Giovanni Gualberto also includes the source alongside. Built in 1629 on the remains of a small pre-existing building, it became a real church-chapel, as it was used to celebrate mass for women, given that the cloister began right here, an area where women could not enter and which the monks could only go out with the permission of their superiors.According to tradition, San Giovanni Gualberto chose to build his hut here before moving to the "Holy Beech". It is said that in the water of the spring, even in the middle of winter, the Saint immersed his feet and body to do penance. Later healing properties were attributed to the source.(Taken from: toscanareggelloturismo.altervista.org/il-circuito-delle-cappelle )
