Scenic Ascent and Descent With View of Rottachsee

A treat for mountain lovers. Great view over the Allgäu, the Alps and the Rottachsee. Serpentine-like ascent or descent on good asphalt.

The approach via Wertach offers an alternative route that leads through the beautiful Allgäu Alpine foothills. The route offers a pleasant mix of sporty cycling, moderate climbs and magnificent views. There are sections with slightly steeper climbs, but the route remains easy to ride.

I had actually canceled the route and, thank goodness, rode it again. The climb wasn't as bad as I thought it would be; it was either due to the new bike or my fitness level, as I hadn't had a break in the winter. I rarely needed the second gear on my e-bike; the only problem was that I forgot my water bottle. In Batzers, I sat on a bench and enjoyed the stunning view. I've added some new pictures to give an idea of the gradients. Sometimes it's steep, with gradients of over 15 or 17%. It's nice that there are very few cars on the road.
