Hurst Castle is an artillery fort established by Henry VIII between 1541 and 1544 to protect against invasion from France and the Holy Roman Empire. At the time, it was one of the most advanced artillery fortresses in England. Commanding the narrow entrance to the Solent, you are afforded stunning panoramic views from the fort.
