The forest is certainly worth a walk, because these oaks are a must-see. It remains to be seen whether you really have to visit each of the many tree highlights. The time of year might be important. I was there in spring when the weather was already warm and sunny, the days were longer and the vegetation was just about to awaken. The leaves don't yet hide the bizarre shape of the trees.

The oak trees in the Schwanheim Forest often served as models for the members of the Kronberg painters' colony. The fact that the oak trees are so gnarled is due not least to the so-called herding industry that has been practiced in this area of the forest for centuries: until 1923, pigs were driven into the forest to fatten them.
