This area south of Ver-Assebroek is a set of low-lying moist meadows and hay meadows surrounded by pollard willows and poplars. If you want to take a longer walk, you can combine the Assebroekse meersen with the Steenbrugse bosjes via the signposted Meersen walking route of just under 7 kilometers. The Assebroekse Meersen (82 hectares) also border on valuable landscapes such as the Beverhoutsveld, the Loweiden and the woods and heath relics of Ryckevelde. All possibilities, therefore, to make even bigger walks.
