Hiking

The wayside cross from 1759 in Roth near Gerolstein is a shaft cross carved from basalt lava and is one of the oldest small religious monuments in the town. It stands on Rother Straße and presumably commemorates a vow or an accident, like many such crosses in the Eifel region. With its simple, weather-beaten form and the carved date, it testifies to popular belief and the skilled stonemasonry of the 18th century.
