A beautiful small state reserve just off Highway 1 is Point Lobos, just a few miles south of Monterey and Carmel in the north of the Big Sur area. Particularly impressive is Point Lobos due to its enormous variety: here the steep coastline with its rugged cliffs, there the dense forests with numerous rare plant species and the strangest rock structures on the water.
